The ADMLC has published on its website the final report on the project “A review of the applicability of Gaussian modelling techniques to near-field dispersion” which it commissioned with Imperial College London Consultants. The work was undertaken by Huw Woodward and Helen ApSimon (Imperial College), David Gallacher and Alan Robins (University of Surrey), and Martin Seaton (CERC). The aim of the project was to assess the value of Gaussian model output to emergency responders when applied to predict near-field dispersion (typically within distances of 50-100m), particularly in the presence of buildings. It included analysis of large-eddy simulations, wind tunnel studies and Gaussian modelling. The report can be downloaded from: https://admlc.com/publications/.
